Error al cargar la interfaz gráfica en Ubuntu

Al iniciar mi ordenador, este no arrancaba por lo que inicie desde consola, ejecute el comando  dpkg-reconfigure x-server-xorg luego ejecute startx y me encontré con el sgte error:

Fatal server error:
Could not create lock file in /tmp/..tx0-lock

Solucion: borrar el .x0-lock ubicado en /tmp  y reinicia. 

Luego de reiniciar me dio otro error

There is a problem with the configuration server. (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)

El cual lo solucione con el ultimo comando, pero también en otros sitios recomiendan poner:
chmod 755 /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system

chmod -R user /home/user      
chmod 1777 /tmp
